To All Those Weird Ones Out There, You Make My Day
Every once in a while I get reminded just how lucky I am to have such amazing people around me.
And in those moments I am filled with the kind of love and appreciation that makes me wanna burst into tears of joy. In this world it is so easy to get cynical and stop believing in humanity and kindness but fortunately because of the people I've crossed paths with, I have not lost hope yet. In fact, I only hope I can learn more from them. So this one's for you.
This world is a strange place. Our values are bizarre and shallow and often leave me wondering what's the point of even trying to fight it, when so many of us are just sleepwalking.
But then something happens.
I've met so many people through random coincidences and ended up finding friends or family in them. These are people who remind me of who I am and why it is so important to be exactly that and not try to fit in to a mold made by our societies. These are people who aren't afraid to chase their dreams and go against the current. They are people who've made mistakes, who've taken chances, fallen down and gotten back up. They've got personality, fire, a careless character and a never ending positivity towards life and all it's uphills and downhills. Usually they also possess a very wide smile and a contagious laughter.
These people are the ones you want to travel with because you know they're just as curious and adventurous as you are, and also not afraid to live a nomad life occasionally. In fact, they often find it more appealing than a more traditional kind of lifestyle. They go up and talk to strangers and make new friends, because why not? They do not care about your credentials or social status's because they know that it says nothing about you as a person. There are so many more interesting ways to get to know someone.
These people love you for who you are and see the magic in you. Weirdness is very much appreciated and welcomed. These are not the kind of people to talk about economy or taxes with because they just couldn't care less. Instead you can expect a random conversation about the universe, travels, dreams, philosophy, humanity or aliens. Just to name a few.
I've gotten to know these people from all corners of the world, and I just want to say that I love you.
You are everything this world needs. Thank you for reminding me of my own weirdness and helping me to embrace it. It doesn't matter if I've hung out with you for 10 minutes or 10 years, you know who you are.
I believe we meet people for a reason. They shape us into becoming what we're meant to become. Some remind us of who we don't want to be, some teach us important and often also painful lessons, and then there are those that inspired me to write this blog post. The ones who bring out the best in us, who come in to our lives to remind us of what it's all really about.
Thanks to all you weird incredible people. You light up my life in so many different ways.
Don't ever change.
